Weller by Cohiba

Once considered among the best-kept secrets in the world of Kentucky bourbon, W.L. Weller is now among the most sought-after choices for enthusiasts. Made with wheat in place of the conventional rye ingredient (aka "wheated" bourbon), Weller is considered something of a sibling to the legendary Pappy Van Winkle bourbon, stemming from the same recipe out of Buffalo Trace Distillery. In 2021, Weller was brought into the premium cigar scene with the Weller by Cohiba cigar, an elite collaboration that aimed to compliment Weller bourbon with a fine-tuned tobacco recipe.

With high demand, the Weller/Cohiba partnership has been revived for 2022, giving enthusiasts an even more synergistic experience through the use of barrel-aged tobacco! Yes, while the original was simply a cigar companion, Weller by Cohiba 2022 takes the concept one step further, transporting Weller bourbon barrels to the DR and aging the binder component (Connecticut Broadleaf) within the spent vessels. Rolled in a singular 6” x 50 toro format, Weller by Cohiba 2022 boasts an Ecuadoran Sumatra wrapper, barrel-aged Broadleaf binder, and diverse fillers of the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua, and three regions of Honduras. While the cigars are best paired with the bourbon itself, the Weller influence can now be (albeit subtly) found within the cigar itself. Expect a medium-plus to medium-full intensity, showing long-lasting flavors of toasted oak, cabinet spice, soft vanilla, and touches of caramel.
