El Mago James Avenue Habano

The James Avenue Habano cigar sits on the fuller side of El Mago’s four-blend tribute to Miami Beach’s James Hotel, a property purchased by founder Nick Fusco’s grandfather in 1989. Rather than building the collection around a single recipe, Fusco and the MGE Cigars team developed each version independently, allowing the Habano expression to take on a deeper, more traditional Nicaraguan character.

For this blend, a Habano wrapper of undisclosed origin is paired with a Nicaraguan Criollo binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The Criollo binder adds sweetness and spice beneath the earthier Habano wrapper, giving the 6" x 54 box-pressed toro more depth than the lighter expressions in the line. Like the rest of the James Avenue cigars, it is rolled at the MGE Cigars Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.

Medium to full in body, the James Avenue Habano opens with cedar and black pepper before moving into leather, roasted nuts, and dark fruit. The sweetness from the Criollo binder works alongside the spice and earth throughout the smoke, creating one of the richer and more layered profiles in the James Avenue collection.
