Founded by a group of Utah tobacconists, Apostate Cigars has built its identity around challenging local convention while drawing inspiration from their former religious history. Apostate's The Initiatory cigar serves as the starting point for that approach, taking its name from the first Mormon temple ceremony and offering a straightforward introduction to the brand’s portfolio.

Crafted at Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic, The Initiatory cigar features an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Mexican San Andrés binder and a blend of four Dominican filler tobaccos. The blend was designed as Apostate’s interpretation of a classic Cuban-style Habano, with enough complexity for experienced hobbyists while remaining approachable for newer palates.

The Initiatory delivers a medium-bodied profile centered around cedar, toasted nuts, earth, and spice, followed by creamy coffee and caramel-like sweetness. The result is a balanced, easygoing smoke that introduces Apostate’s blending style without overwhelming the palate.
