Made with all the precision of a Swiss watch, Caldwell L’Escalade was first released exclusively to the Switzerland market in 2018. The cigar is named for the country's annual festival in Geneva (held on Dec. 11th each year), celebrating the 1602 victory over Charles Emmanuel I, Duke of Savoy and his failed surprise attack to overtake the city.
When Caldwell L’Escalade debuted, the cigars were rolled in a singular 6" x 54 toro format, with only 250 boxes of 10 in circulation. The cigars have now come stateside, removing the "CH" sub-band that designated the cigars as a Swiss exclusive. But the blend remains the same as the original, showcasing an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over a Dominican binder and fillers of the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. This recipe is hand-crafted at the boutique-minded Tabacalera William Ventura factory in the DR, offering a medium intensity and refined complexities of fresh-cut cedar, must, gingerbread cookies, and sweet malt.
