With the French-inspired Côte d’Or ’19, L’Atelier brings back one of its most refined limited editions—this time in a new 6" x 50 toro format. Translating to Gold Coast, the Côte d’Or line has always aimed for elegance through rarity, and this third entry follows suit with a familiar blend that leans heavily on nuance and depth.
At the core of the cigar is a prized leaf: Pelo de Oro (Golden Hair), grown by the García family in Nicaragua. Rare, temperamental, and long banned in Cuba, Pelo de Oro offers a singular richness that’s hard to replicate. It’s framed here by an Ecuadorian Sancti Spíritus wrapper—also seen on the L’Atelier Selection Spéciale—creating a hybrid profile that straddles spice, cream, and old-world finesse.
The Côte d’Or ’19 cigar opens with toasted grain and minerality before shifting into layers of citrus oil, cedar, and roasted chestnut. The medium-plus-bodied profile stays remarkably composed, rewarding slow smoking with an evolving complexity geared for the seasoned palate. For fans of Tatuaje’s more fine-tuned expressions, Côte d’Or ’19 is on the level of fine wine (don't be afraid to let a few of these rest in your aging humidor).
