Drew Estate first launched the Kentucky Fire Cured brand in 2013, being a sub-brand of the MUWAT collection, which is rolled by the world-renowned Joya de Nicaragua factory in Estelí (aka the first and oldest Nicaraguan cigar factory). Using techniques more commonly found in pipe tobacco, Drew Estate turned to the barbecue-centric state of Kentucky, where a farm in Hopkinsville introduces a slow, wood-smoked curing process that imparts a distinct smokiness not unlike classic barbecue.
Despite fire-cured tobaccos being one of the most notable innovations in premium cigars over the last decade, the technique dates back more than 200 years. Kentucky Fire Cured cigars are therefore not lumped into the infused category, smoking much more traditional in character. The cigar makes use of dark fire-cured of leaves of Kentucky and Virginia, with one such leaf being used in conjunction with Mexican San Andrés maduro for the wrapper (the latter aiding in the cigar's combustion). A portion of these fire-cured leaves also make their way into the filler, though the entirety of the blend remains undisclosed.
Kentucky Fire Cured is simultaneously traditional and unique in performance, offering a medium body and deep, rewarding, smoky characteristics along the lines of hickory, maple, campfire, sweet molasses, mesquite, and savory pork ends.

*Please note that all SKUs have two product lines. The top line is the box/bundle count. The second line is less than a box/bundle count and will be shipped as loose cigars in a humidified bag.
Michael Lanier - Drew Estate Kentucky Fire Cured Chunky
Definitely a different kind of smoking experience, but I luv it!!! I only smoke these in the winter, especially when outside sitting in front of a toasty fire. These cigars have me looking forward to those cold winter days and nights.

It’s truly is like smoking charcoal. You get the hickory charcoal notes. Try it. Hard to believe but you wouldn’t put in down either.

I am typically not a fan of infused or flavored cigars. I came across this cigar and was curious. The first scent I got from just smelling before lighting reminded me of sitting around a fire and smelling like it the next day. I must say the first few puffs were weird to me but I got accustomed to it. The burn was near perfect and the notes besides the fire were solid as well! I really enjoyed this smoke and probably will again. However, this is not something I would smoke on a regular basis.

Plain and simple here- if you BBQ and smoked meats than this cigar is right for. Flavors of smoke and hickory await your palette with this. For some reason I love the cigars on a cold winter day!

If you like smoked cigars, this is the best on the market. The KFC can be a nice change of pace and the construction and balance is dialed in. Pair it with a smoked porter to double down on the core profile.

What can one say about Kentucky Fire Cured? Memories is what I have to say. Growing up had more than one relative in Kentucky (yeah not that way) that did grow and dry tobacco in a barn using fire. But yeah the taste is that. If i am wanting to enjoy a cigar for the evening with a fine spirit, this is probably not the way to go. If you want a cigar to grill with or to smoke while one mows the yard, this is PERFECT!

This is my favorite for when I'm sitting around a fire pit and sipping on bourbon. The fire cured flavor is an amazing flavor profile that may not be for the faint of heart but hits every time for me.
