Your April 2023 Cigar of the Month Sampler Includes:

1 – Diamond Crown Maximus #4 ($16.30 Retail)

Origin: Dominican Republic • Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sun-Grown

Binder: Dominican Republic • Filler: Dominican Republic

Size: 6 x 50 • Body: Medium-Full

A classic cigar in its own right, the Diamond Crown Maximus from J.C. Newman was first released in the early 2000s as a fuller-bodied / fuller-flavored sequel to the original Diamond Crown line. As the Newmans have been known to do, they partnered with two legendary cigar families to create the Maximus: Fuente and Oliva (the tobacco growers/brokers). This includes the Fuentes’ Dominican tobaccos throughout the binder and filler, being topped with a special Ecuadorian sun-grown wrapper from the El Bajo region of the Olivas’ Ecuador plantation. It is said that only high-priming leaves are chosen, bringing out rich smoking characteristics of leather, toasted oak, and molasses.

1 – Cavalier Prospektor ($11.40 Retail)

Origin: Honduras • Wrapper: Nicaraguan Jalapa (Barber Pole)

Binder: Nicaraguan Habano • Filler: Honduras I Nicaragua I Paraguay

Size: 6 x 54 • Body: Medium

Gold and prospectors go together like soil and tobacco! Seeing as how Cavalier graces nearly all their cigars with diamond-shaped gold foil bands, the Cavalier Prospektor cigar was meant to be. Aside from the head-turning gold leaf atop the wrapper, the cigar sets itself apart with a subtle barber pole design, boasting two shades of Jalapa (Nicaragua) viso wrappers. These winding Nicaraguan wrappers conceal a Nicaraguan Habano binder and diverse fillers from Honduras, Nicaragua, and Paraguay, offering a medium body and an exotic profile along the lines of earth, gingerbread, oak, and touches of brown sugar.

1 – Gran Habano Black Dahlia Robusto ($10.00 Retail)

Origin: Honduras • Wrapper: Nicaraguan Shade-Grown Corojo

Binder: Nicaraguan Habano • Filler: Colombia I Nicaragua (Cubita & Habano) I Costa Rica

Size: 5 x 52 • Body: Medium

Traditionally known for an old-school persona and classic, Habano-driven flavor profiles, Gran Habano’s S.T.K. series (aka Stay True Kid) takes the brand in a more contemporary direction. The Black Dahlia is perhaps the most acclaimed cigar in the series, offering a diverse recipe that brings out a bright and complex smoking experience. Expect a balanced smoke across the palate, with standout notes of clean cedar, black pepper, floral tea, and plenty of cream through the finish.

1 – Aganorsa Leaf GOTF Cerberus Lonsdale ($9.50 Retail)

Origin: Nicaragua • Wrapper: Nicaraguan Corojo 2012

Binder: Nicaragua • Filler: Nicaragua

Size: 6 x 44 • Body: Medium

Following on the heels of Aganorsa’s fan-favorite Guardian of the Farm and Guardian of the Farm Nightwatch cigars comes the third official release in the series:
Guardian of the Farm Cerberus. This cigar is named for the three-headed dog known as Cerberus, who is tasked (in Greek mythology) with guarding the gates of the Underworld. Bringing such vivid imagery to life, Aganorsa showcases a Nicaraguan puro recipe topped with a special Nicaraguan Corojo 2012 wrapper ingredient. This makes for a highly flavorful, medium-bodied experience that will be familiar to fans of Aganorsa, while bringing newfound complexity from the cigar’s signature wrapper. Expect clean and long-lasting flavors of cedar, toasted nuts, graham cracker, and cinnamon cream.

1 – 2012 by Oscar Connecticut Toro ($9.30 Retail)

Origin: Honduras • Wrapper: Connecticut

Binder: Honduras • Filler: Nicaragua I Honduras

Size: 6 x 52 • Body: Mild-Medium

Playing up the Mayan history of his Honduran roots, Oscar Valladares introduced the 2012 by Oscar series. And while the year (thankfully) proved not to be the end of the world, it instead served as the genesis for a great cigar project! Of the various wrapper options in the series, the Connecticut is the most tame, showcasing the silk-like leaf around a Honduran binder and fillers from Honduras and Nicaragua. This makes for a smooth smoking experience with highlights of nougat, salted peanuts, caramel, and a white pepper spice.
