The Reserva Real line has long represented the smoother side of Romeo y Julieta, but the Profundo release pushes the concept into darker territory. Developed as a follow-up to the Reserva Real Nicaragua project, the blend again pairs A.J. Fernández’s Nicaraguan tobacco expertise with the portfolio oversight of Rafael Nodal, resulting in a deeper expression built entirely from Nicaraguan leaf.

At the center of the cigar is a notably dark oscuro wrapper grown on Fernández’s farms, its color brought out through extended fermentation. Beneath it lies a Nicaraguan binder and filler blend, forming a puro designed to bridge the classic Reserva Real smoothness with the richer intensity modern hobbyists increasingly seek.

Once underway, the Profundo cigar opens with roasted coffee and dark chocolate before settling into a core of earth and pepper. Subtle molasses sweetness and faint fruit notes emerge through the middle portion. The body lands in the medium-to-full range, carrying a creamy texture that keeps the smoke balanced despite the darker wrapper. The result is a fuller interpretation of Reserva Real, one that leans into Nicaragua’s richness while maintaining the brand’s hallmark refinement.
