Big Papi by David Ortiz was introduced in 2016 as a collaborative effort between MLB star David "Big Papi" Ortiz and Dominican manufacturer Tabacalera El Artista.
During Ortiz's final baseball season, he began working on the next phase of his career, paying homage to his Dominican heritage with a smoking experience built around his legacy. With one of the largest tobacco vaults in the Dominican Republic, Tabacalera El Artista gave Big Papi the opportunity to craft his ideal smoking experience. This materialized through the selection of an Ecuadorian Habano Claro wrapper, Criollo ’98 binder, and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. This fine-tuned selection leads to a medium-bodied smoking profile and a heavy-hitting flavor profile to live up to Big Papi's reputation. This includes plenty of zesty spices at the cigar's start, opening up to include classic leather, caramel, sweet malt, and dark toasted bread.
