Five Limited Edition Cigars to Try in 2023

Five Limited Edition Cigars to Try in 2023:

The world of cigars is rife with limited-edition releases, and 2023 has been no exception. So far this year we’ve seen tons of LE products from manufacturers big and small. So many that the discerning cigar enthusiast may not even know what’s worth trying and what they can ignore! Today, we’re delving into the allure of five Limited Edition Cigars from 2023 and touching on why you should seek them out.

Black Label Trading Co. Santa Muerte: Embrace the Dark Elegance

The Black Label Trading Co. Santa Muerte is a captivating embodiment of BLTC’s core iconography and design aesthetics. Named after the Mexican cultural symbol of death, this limited-edition cigar features a skull and roses design in black atop a stark white band. With a dark and oily Mexican San Andres wrapper, the BLTC Santa Muerte delivers a ton of complexity. You’ll find notes of cocoa, espresso, and a delicate spice.

Much like Black Label’s previous cigars, the Santa Muerte shows off a meticulous attention to detail. With each puff, enthusiasts will be treated to a convergence of history and craftsmanship, making this dark and dreamy cigar an irresistible choice for those seeking a smoking experience as profound as it is delicious.

Oliva Serie V Melanio Double Robusto Round (Casa de Montecristo Exclusive): A Privileged Experience

The Oliva Serie V Melanio is an amazing cigar – you don’t need me to tell you that. Earlier this year, though, we received a limited-edition version of this blend in a traditional round Parejo. This cigar features a velvety Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper atop a blend of aged Nicaraguan tobaccos to bring out notes of leather, cedar, and hints of coffee.

Melanio is a cigar I’ve personally been enjoying for years. So naturally, I was curious to see how it different in the rounder version than the box-press. To me, you may lose a little bit of the spice and punch that comes with the traditional Melanio experience, but the payoff is a super-smooth smoke that’s enjoyable any time of day.

Room101 14th Anniversary: A Toast to Celebrations

The latest offering on this list, the Room101 14th Anniversary is a fantastic cigar from Matt Booth and A.J. Fernandez. Celebrating a decade and a half of creativity and innovation, this limited-edition blends utilizes Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos underneath a flavorful Mexican San Andres wrapper leaf. Booth has been releasing these anniversary blends for the last five years, and I’ve been a huge fan of all of them. Luckily the 14th Anniversary doesn’t buck the trend.

Lighting up the 14th Anniversary you’ll find notes of dark chocolate, pepper, and a touch of sweetness. This is the perfect companion for your favorite beverage pairing (coffee, soda, whiskey – they’ll all play well here). Toast up a Room101 14th Anniversary and join me in wishing Matt Booth many more years of success.

BLK WKS Poison Dart: Precision in Flavor

The second release on this list from James Brown and the Oveja Negra factory, the BLK WKS Poison Dart is a showcase to the art of blending. With a rich Brazilian Mata Fina wrapper leaf overtop Ecuador Habano binder and Nicaraguan fillers, each Poison Dart delivers a bold shot of flavor. The skill of the roller is on prominent display here too. The unique, torpedo-like shape adds a lot of visual appeal.

BLK WKS Poison Dart is offered up in Corona Gorda and Short Robusto. Normally, I’m a fan of the Corona Gorda vitolas, but I actually really enjoyed the Short Robusto here. The small Rothschild style delivers a concentrated, quick smoke that gives a ton of satisfaction in a short time commitment.

Vintage Rock-A-Feller Art of Magic Magician’s Wand: A Whimsical Journey

The Vintage Rock-A-Feller Art of Magic Magician’s Wand is a limited-edition release that transports enthusiasts into a world of whimsy and charm. This cigar features a captivating Brazilian Maduro wrapper and a blend of Nicaraguan and Dominican tobaccos. The result is a flavor profile that dances between notes of dark fruit, chocolate, and spices. The Magician’s Wand encapsulates Vintage Rock-A-Feller’s dedication to creativity and storytelling, offering a cigar experience that is as magical as it is enjoyable.

Offered in just one size, a 7” x 44 Lonsdale, each Magician’s Wand is packaged in a piano-finished 10-count box. The fact that there’s still some of these on shelves is a true magic trick. I’d highly recommend making them disappear.

Conclusion

Trying every new release is an exercise in frustration. You’re going to spend more time (and cash) chasing down cigars than you will actually enjoying them! However, if you’re looking to sample some of the best cigars from 2023, this list should serve as a great starting point.
