With each new chapter in the Arcana Series, CAO digs deeper into the roots of rare and forgotten tobaccos. The latest entry is the Stokk cigar, which takes this exploration to a whole new medium. Developed in collaboration with Danish pipe tobacco legends Peter Stokkebye, CAO Stokk is where cigar and pipe traditions collide, unearthing a two-act experience that shifts in real time.
The cigar begins with a foundation of Dominican andullo, a tobacco known for its dense, log-fermented structure and concentrated flavor. Layered beneath a US Broadleaf wrapper and Nicaraguan binder, the blend also incorporates Honduran leaf for added structure. Rolled at the STG Estelí factory in a singular 6½” x 52 belicoso size, Stokk’s real trick comes halfway through the smoke—when the andullo steps aside for Cyprian Latakia, a fire-cured leaf more common in English pipe blends than premium cigars.
The result is a cigar that feels like flipping a record from Side A to Side B. Leather and cocoa give way to charred woods and smoky intensity, capturing the nostalgia of a well-packed pipe bowl and the punch of a proper handmade cigar. Finished in rune-adorned wooden boxes inspired by Stokkebye’s Nordic roots, Stokk bridges two centuries-old crafts into one seamless performance.
