Pre-light Aroma:

Before lighting up, the foot offers aromas of earth, fresh cedar shavings and a hint figs. The cold draw is open with hints of leather and dried fruit.

First Third:

Upon lighting, the initial puffs deliver a smooth and creamy profile with dominant notes of cedar, earth, and sweet paprika spice and a touch of pepper. The burn is razor-sharp, and the ash holds firm, showing the cigar’s excellent construction.

Second Third:

Transitioning into the middle portion, the cigar showcases a blend of a slight earthy undertone and a more profound sweet spice. The smoke remains (rich and voluminous, with a silky mouthfeel and a razor sharp burn line. The Ash fell off on its own however it did not coned nor tunneled and for a boxed pressed cigar it was surprisingly pleasant to experience.

Finale Thoughts:

The 2012 by Oscar Sumatra is Medium bodied cigar and the latest version of a line that dates back to 2012 . Not only was it a tribute to the year that the company was founded, but more importantly to commemorate the Mayan calendar and the accompanying thought that it foretold the end of the world on Dec. 21, 2012. This cigar offering a balanced and nuanced flavor profile that will appeal to both novice and seasoned smokers. Oscar Valladares has once again demonstrated their blending prowess and commitment to quality, not to mention that the price point of the cigar is set perfectly at under $10.
