This entails placing 8 cigars on the bottom row, 9 cigars in the middle row, and 8 cigars on the top row.\u00a0 Hence, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/ashton-classic\/\">Ashton Classic 898.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Anejo:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is the Spanish term for \u201caged\u201d.\u00a0 If you see a box with the term anejo you can rest assured that they have some pretty good age on them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Capote:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is just another term for the binder.\u00a0 See below for the definition of binder.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chaveta:\u00a0<\/strong> This is essentially a cigar roller&#8217;s knife.\u00a0 It\u2019s a curved flat piece of steel that is used to trim a wrapper leaf.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cuban Sandwich:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is a cigar that uses both long and short filler tobacco.\u00a0 A Cuban sandwich is still made by hand.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Culebra:<\/strong>\u00a0 Spanish for snake.\u00a0 These are those cigars that look like three were twisted together.\u00a0 They tend to be panatela sizes which are braded together.\u00a0 In my opinion, these are best enjoyed with two other friends.\u00a0 Spread the love, people.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Entubar:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is a method of rolling the filler leaves into individual \u201ctubes\u201d before bunching them together.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Half Wheel:<\/strong>\u00a0 50 cigars that are bundled together and usually tied with a ribbon.\u00a0 This is usually done during the aging process.\u00a0 \u00a0Yes, that&#8217;s right.\u00a0 It&#8217;s not just a cigar news source!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Plume:<\/strong>\u00a0 It\u2019s mold, people.\u00a0 We can argue later.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s all I have for the lesser-known terms.\u00a0 I definitely don\u2019t know everything, but I\u2019m always learning.\u00a0 It&#8217;s time for our next section of the cigar terms glossary.\u00a0 Below is a list of some of the more common cigar terms.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cigar Anatomy:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1776 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Hands-300x200.png\" alt=\"Ciger Terms Glossary: Cigar Anatomy\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Hands-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Hands-1030x687.png 1030w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Hands-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Hands-1536x1024.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Hands.png 1650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wrapper:<\/strong> The outermost leaf of the cigar.\u00a0 I\u2019m a big fan of broadleaf cigars, but I also enjoy a good Connecticut as well.\u00a0 It really depends on my mood.\u00a0 I\u2019m quick to try a new Sumatra as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Binder:<\/strong> The leaf underneath the wrapper that holds the filler together and helps maintain the cigar&#8217;s shape.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Filler:<\/strong> The blend of individual tobacco leaves inside the body of cigar, held together by the binder.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ring Gauge and Length:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1783 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Bundle-300x200.png\" alt=\"Ciger Terms Glossary: Ring Gauge and Length\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Bundle-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Bundle-1030x687.png 1030w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Bundle-768x512.png 768w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Bundle-1536x1024.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/Bundle.png 1650w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ring Gauge:<\/strong> This is a term we\u2019re all familiar with, but do we really know how cigar ring gauge is determined?\u00a0 Well, it\u2019s obviously the diameter of the cigar, but what you might not know is it\u2019s measured in 64ths of an inch.\u00a0 So, a 64 ring gauge cigar would have a diameter of 1 inch.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/E.P.-Carrillo-Inch-Natural\/\">E.P. Carrillo Inch 64<\/a> is a perfect example of this.\u00a0 I tend to stick to somewhat smaller ring gauges.\u00a0 48 is my sweet spot.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Length:\u00a0<\/strong> This is pretty straightforward.\u00a0 The length of the cigar is measured in inches.\u00a0 6 to 6.5 is where I like to be.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vitola:\u00a0 <\/strong>Vitola in cigars refers to the size and shape of a cigar, often indicated by its length, ring gauge, and sometimes a unique name (Robusto, Churchill, Toro, etc.). \u00a0\u00a0As stated before, somewhere around a typical Toro is where I like to be.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Cutters:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1781 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/All-Cutters-300x230.jpg\" alt=\"Ciger Terms Glossary: Cutters\" width=\"300\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/All-Cutters-300x230.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/All-Cutters-768x588.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/All-Cutters.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Straight Cut:<\/strong>\u00a0 This is probably the most common cut.\u00a0 All we\u2019re doing here is taking off the top of the cigar cap.\u00a0 Sometimes this is referred to as a guillotine cut.\u00a0 The opening should be even across.\u00a0 If you\u2019re concerned with cutting too much of the cap off, check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/Xikar-Perfect-Cutters\/\">Xikar Perfect Xi1<\/a> cutter.\u00a0 I\u2019m almost exclusively a straight cut guy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>V-Cut:<\/strong> This creates \u00a0a V-shaped groove on the cap of the cigar.\u00a0 What\u2019s nice about a V-Cut is that it almost operates like a perfect cutter.\u00a0 It\u2019s hard to take too much off with a V-cutter.\u00a0 Pro Tip:\u00a0 Don\u2019t push the cigar down too hard when you\u2019re using a v-cutter.\u00a0 All you have to do is rest it in the groove.\u00a0 Applying too much pressure can damage the wrapper during the cutting process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Punch Cut:<\/strong> This involves using a circular blade to remove a small portion of the cap.\u00a0 A punch cut tends to produce less smoke since the whole is much smaller than a straight cut.\u00a0 This could be useful on larger ring gauge cigars.<\/p>\n<p>The straight cut vs V-cut argument can go a lot of different directions.\u00a0 It&#8217;s up to you to decide what works best for you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Lighters:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1782 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/All-Lighters-300x230.jpg\" alt=\"Ciger Terms Glossary: Lighters\" width=\"300\" height=\"230\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/All-Lighters-300x230.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/All-Lighters-768x588.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.smokeinn.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/All-Lighters.jpg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Torch Lighter:<\/strong>\u00a0 A torch produces a concentrated flame.\u00a0 These concentrated flames come out through the jets.\u00a0 I personally prefer a single jet lighter, but most table top lighters tend to have 3 or more jets.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Soft Flame:<\/strong>\u00a0 This produces a \u201csoft flame\u201d obviously.\u00a0 The flame is less intense than a torch and won\u2019t sear your cigar if used improperly. I pull out my S.T.
