When you name your cigar after an actual saint, you have a big responsibility placed on your shoulders to deliver a smoking experience that is, dare we say, ”spiritual.” The Saint Francis cigar from All Saints Cigars makes good on this responsibility, and it should come as no surprise, since co-owner Mickey Pegg has over two decades of experience in the premium cigar industry.

The St. Francis gets its namesake from St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of Italy and one of the most prominent saints in the Catholic faith. With these big shoes to fill, All Saints dresses the St. Francis with a dark milk chocolate-colored Ecuadorian Oscuro wrapper and tops it with a regal band featuring a shield that bears the cross of St. James (who happens to be the patron saint of Nicaragua). Man, if there were awards given for most on-theme cigar and brand, this would definitely be a finalist!

These rectangular box-pressed beauties are rolled at the Rocky Patel's acclaimed TAVICUSA factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. All Saints has specifically designed the St. Francis blend to have a medium to full-bodied classic Nicaraguan profile of spice, earth, leather, cedar, and black coffee, with a rich and creamy finish. “Oh Lord, I have been led into temptation, and by a saint no less!”

    The All-Saints St. Francis Toro is a beautiful looking cigar. The box pressed cigar has an earthy, manure aroma which provides a great start to the smoking experience. Once lit, it offers flavors of chocolate and cedar. A full-flavored, well-balanced cigar. Definitely box worthy.

    This cigar is a chocolate, leather, brown sugar, Carmel, baking spice infused dream. It has a wonderful burn time and is an excellent value. Try one but I bet you’ll be back for a 5 pack if not a box. It is also a great paring partner with a good bourbon.

    I honestly thought it was a gimmick when this won cigar of the year on the cigar authority. And I didn’t like the idea of it being a rocky Patel made cigar since I find many of his cigars good but very one profile. This cigar is complex, smooth, dark, delicious and has an attitude.
